Charter bookings in the Mediterranean rise for the 2026 season
The boat charter industry in the Mediterranean is entering the 2026 season with very positive forecasts. According to several operators in the nautical sector, early bookings for charter boats have increased compared to previous years, particularly in destinations such as Ibiza, Formentera, Mallorca, Sardinia and the French Riviera.
One of the main reasons behind this growth is the change in traveler preferences. More and more people are looking for personalized experiences away from mass tourism, which has boosted interest in nautical tourism. Renting a boat allows visitors to discover hidden coves and landscapes that are inaccessible by land, enjoy the sea in privacy and customize the experience according to their preferences.
Mid-size catamarans continue to be among the most requested vessels, particularly models between 40 and 50 feet. These boats combine comfort, stability and spacious outdoor areas, making them ideal for families or groups of friends.

Another trend shaping the sector is the increasing demand for skippered charters. Many visitors prefer to leave navigation in the hands of a professional captain who knows the area well and can recommend the best routes, restaurants and less crowded anchorages.
Charter companies are also expanding their range of onboard services. Activities such as paddle boarding, snorkeling, water sports and customized catering experiences are becoming an increasingly common part of charter packages.
With these trends, nautical tourism continues to position itself as one of the most dynamic segments within the Mediterranean tourism industry.
